Sony A7III – best digital camera yet?

After using one brand for 20+ years, you’d think it would take quite a bit to make one switch, and you’d be right. I have been a Nikon user for at least that long and saw zero reason to switch. What would I switch to? Canon? It is just as good a brand, no better, so why waste money buying new lenses and bodies and losing money on selling my old gear? No brainer – not worth it. But then, once in a blue moon, a revolutionary technology comes along and as soon as you try it, you see the future, where a technology is heading, and where you yourself want to be. That is the story of me and the Sony A7 series…

So I’ve got a D800 and D200 (leftover from years back), and 5-6 lenses, but then I try the A7Rii…..that was it. Stability, low-light, size, soundless shutter, picture quality, video (!!!), awesome AF – that’s all it took to make me put the Nikon on Craigslist. (See listing here). I buy a used A7Rii and since that day hardly pick up the Nikon. I have to get a lens – but first I get an adapter to let me use my Nikon F-mount lenses on the Sony. Sadly there are no electronics passed through – no auto-focus and metering, so this is a temporary solution. My first lenses on the Sony? The Zeiss 55mm F1.8 of course! And the 28mm F2, though its not as good, not by a long shot. The Zeiss, at $999, is sharper or just as sharp as any Nikon lens I’ve ever used.
